Past Project: Jacob Thompson

Jacob loved penguins. Healing Spaces founder Kat Powers learned about Jacob and his situation from an interview she saw on NBC affiliate WCSH-TV in Portland, Maine. Jacob’s dad was talking about how they would be celebrating Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas consecutively this year due to Jacob’s prognosis that he probably wouldn’t live until Christmas. His dad knew that they wanted to decorate the hospital room at Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, with a tree and hopefully some snow, but didn’t know how that would happen.

In a heartbeat Healing Spaces was on it!  A post on social media bought in donations to aid Kat to create a Christmas room filled with Christmas decorations and a tree.  The tree was adorned with 20 handcrafted penguins as well as tree skirt boasting a very proud holiday penguin. It earned a crinkled–nosed grin from beloved Jacob. One Kat will always treasure. Jacob lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, November 19, 2017.
